Catching up… December 23, 2009
Well, I hosted my first Thanksgiving and it was a lot of fun. My parents were here along with my brothers Erik & Wade, my nephew Ian, Faith & Riley. The day after the amazing feast we went up to Breckenridge for the rest of the weekend. Ian learned how to ski, Wade learned to snowboard and then rest of got some time on the mountain. I hadn’t been riding since before I was pregnant. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t still be able to “hang with the boys”, but it went off without a hitch. I was really happy about that. It was great to have all of my family together! I sure wish we all lived closer.
Now we have Christmas…
Well, not officially, but I will do an after Christmas post. (I have a New Year’s resolution to be a better blogger, lets hope this goes better than the old “lose 10 pounds” that I usually do)! Mom and Sherry came to town last week/weekend, we did lots of shopping for Christmas and had some great girl time. I love my mama and my cousin Sherry! We took Riley to get his picture with Santa and dragged him all over the mall, he was a total trooper! I have a great video of Riley cracking up, but I can’t get it to load on here. Here is the Christmas preview
crawl (sometime with his belly off the ground)
pull himself up in his crib
pull himself up ANYWHERE
has pretty good strength & can stand on his own for about half a sec
when I pick him up and pat him, he pats me back
he says “da da da da da” (he IS NOT saying “Dada” as in Daddy)!!!!
jabbers a lot
Love that lean October 21, 2009
I completely forgot to write about this last week. When my mom got into town on Friday we went to pick Riley up from school. Of course mom grabbed him first and was loving on him and he was loving mom right back! Getting a bit jealous, picking Riley up from school is my favorite part of everyday, I clap my hands and hold them out in front of Riley. Riley looks at me, looks at my hands, gets a sweet smile on his sweet little face and he…………LEANS for me to take him!!!! It melted my heart and once again confirmed that this is what life is all about. Having a little one means not getting to be selfish, not having extra money, and always putting someone before yourself. And just let me say, TOTALLY WORTH IT! I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I just read what I wrote and it got me thinking. We (the human race) tend to focus on the things going wrong or what we don’t have, etc, etc, etc. It is easy to get wrapped up in that so I just want to write a short list of things I am thankful for.
Faith & Riley-need I say more!!
My parents & brothers- amazing people, so blessed
My in-laws & sister-in-law again, amazing people, so blessed
Roof over our heads
Food on the table
Heat in the winter/Air in the summer
Fun Weekend October 18, 2009
My mom is in town this weekend and we have had a wonderful time! I love when my family comes to visit. Mom stayed home with Riley so Jay and I could go to dinner on Saturday night. We went to the melting pot and had a fabulous time. Mom got to spend some alone time with Riley which she thought was a really good deal 🙂 Mom also got to see Riley eating solid foods for the first time (in person vs video). He had prunes and I think they are his favorite, he can’t seem to get enough. Not such a good thing as far as nasty diapers go! Mom, Riley and I are heading to Nordstrom’s to do a little shopping today. Always a good time. My mom is such a great shopper, always finds the cute stuff. Here are some pics of this weekend.
Oh, I found the BEST pj’s for Riley. Kicky Pants, but can’t find any other styles. Anyone know where I can get them online? (Prints not solids)
103……….. October 8, 2009
103……… And I am not talking about a radio station. That was Riley’s temp last night. He was burning up, when I took his legs out of his pj’s it felt like hot buns coming out of the oven. Yesterday we had his 6 month check up and he had to get his shots. As I am checking his temp I keep thinking “This is my fault, I bet he is having a reaction from the vaccines”! I am a nervous wreck about vaccinations. I know the data says they DON’T cause Autism and I do believe it. But there is a part of me that would like to skip all vaccinations “just in case”, and I would if I weren’t so afraid of him dying from not getting them. A mother having to make this decision just plain stinks. Here are the options…..I vaccinate and he gets Autism I bear the responsibility. I don’t vaccinate, he doesn’t get Autism, but dies from whooping cough or measles I bear the responsibility. The “what ifs” kill me. He had a runny nose and slight cough before the shots. This bug was probably on its way and has nothing to do with the vaccinations. Then I hear all the anti-vaccine propaganda running through my head vs. the pro vaccine information. I just want to scream. Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now and on with my day. I just hope Riley feels better soon
