Catching up… December 23, 2009
Well, I hosted my first Thanksgiving and it was a lot of fun. My parents were here along with my brothers Erik & Wade, my nephew Ian, Faith & Riley. The day after the amazing feast we went up to Breckenridge for the rest of the weekend. Ian learned how to ski, Wade learned to snowboard and then rest of got some time on the mountain. I hadn’t been riding since before I was pregnant. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t still be able to “hang with the boys”, but it went off without a hitch. I was really happy about that. It was great to have all of my family together! I sure wish we all lived closer.
Now we have Christmas…
Well, not officially, but I will do an after Christmas post. (I have a New Year’s resolution to be a better blogger, lets hope this goes better than the old “lose 10 pounds” that I usually do)! Mom and Sherry came to town last week/weekend, we did lots of shopping for Christmas and had some great girl time. I love my mama and my cousin Sherry! We took Riley to get his picture with Santa and dragged him all over the mall, he was a total trooper! I have a great video of Riley cracking up, but I can’t get it to load on here. Here is the Christmas preview
crawl (sometime with his belly off the ground)
pull himself up in his crib
pull himself up ANYWHERE
has pretty good strength & can stand on his own for about half a sec
when I pick him up and pat him, he pats me back
he says “da da da da da” (he IS NOT saying “Dada” as in Daddy)!!!!
jabbers a lot
103……….. October 8, 2009
103……… And I am not talking about a radio station. That was Riley’s temp last night. He was burning up, when I took his legs out of his pj’s it felt like hot buns coming out of the oven. Yesterday we had his 6 month check up and he had to get his shots. As I am checking his temp I keep thinking “This is my fault, I bet he is having a reaction from the vaccines”! I am a nervous wreck about vaccinations. I know the data says they DON’T cause Autism and I do believe it. But there is a part of me that would like to skip all vaccinations “just in case”, and I would if I weren’t so afraid of him dying from not getting them. A mother having to make this decision just plain stinks. Here are the options…..I vaccinate and he gets Autism I bear the responsibility. I don’t vaccinate, he doesn’t get Autism, but dies from whooping cough or measles I bear the responsibility. The “what ifs” kill me. He had a runny nose and slight cough before the shots. This bug was probably on its way and has nothing to do with the vaccinations. Then I hear all the anti-vaccine propaganda running through my head vs. the pro vaccine information. I just want to scream. Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now and on with my day. I just hope Riley feels better soon
almost forgot October 6, 2009
Riley can hold his own bottle now!!! He fed himself last night for the entire bottle! My little boy is getting so big. He is also 6 months today! I will post a picture of this new accomplishment soon.
I now think are the cutest things! Before I had Riley, if there was a kid in the grocery store screaming I would think “control your child”. I know, I know! Well Riley has learned he can squeal and can do so loudly. He thinks it is fantastic (don’t tell, but so do I)! After he lets a really loud one rip he looks at me with sheer delight and the biggest smile! I can’t get enough…….for now anyway 🙂
Just do it…. October 2, 2009
So I have NOT been a good “blogger” to say the least. I have felt that I needed to be this great writer and have lots of amazing tales. Well, I can’t seem to find the time to do this between working and spending time with Riley and my husband. That being said instead of worrying about what a blog should or should not “be”, I am going to just blog. Some days it might be lots of words, some days not as many, and other days it might only be pictures. I want to remember this amazing time in my life…..but not at the expense of my time with Riley and Jay. So I will do what I can and when I can and not worry about what this should be.
Here are a few pictures to catch up on a few milestones. We are eating cereal, green bean baby food, and squash baby food. Riley loves the dogs, Sophie and Jake, always smiling at them when they walk by. He likes to “talk” on the phone with Nana. Faith makes him REALLY laugh out loud all just by looking at him. We are having an amazing time and really enjoying our little boy!
